Tuition Policies
? To insure your child's placement, one third of the annual tuition and a signed Enrollment Agreement must be returned to the Nursery School Office on or before March 1, 2010.
? Enrollment is a full-year contract. If your child is withdrawn after placement has been secured with payment of 1/3 tuition, 10% of the total annual tuition will not be refunded to cover costs associated with filling the class vacancy. The remainder of your initial payment will be refunded after July 1, 2010. If you choose to pull your child out for any reason after August 1st (or after December 1 for classes that start in January 2011), you need to appeal the Board to be absolved of your remaining year-long financial contract.
? The application fee ($40-priority, $50-non-priority) is NON-REFUNDABLE.
* Tuition is paid in 3 installments, each equaling one-third of the annual tuition.
• Tuition is due March 1, 2010, October 15, 2010 and January 14, 2011.
? A late fee of $50 will be assessed if tuition payments are over two weeks late.
• A Scholarship Fund is available if there are special financial needs. Please apply by March 1, 2010. Forms can be obtained in the office.
• A class may be cancelled if it is under enrolled. In the case of a school-initiated cancellation, a full refund will be issued.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Children with IDENTIFIED SPECIAL NEEDS: In accordance with the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct (Section II P-1.7), “we shall strive to build individual relationships with each child; make individualized adaptations in teaching strategies, learning environments, and curricula; and consult with the family so that each child benefits from the program. If after such efforts have been exhausted, the current placement does not meet a child's needs, or the child is seriously jeopardizing the ability of other children to benefit from the program, we shall collaborate with the child's family and appropriate specialists to determine the additional services needed and/or the placement option(s) most likely to ensure the child's success.” Please speak with the Director to obtain further information.
COMMENTS FROM PARENTS: If there is any additional information that the Director should know in order to place your child in an appropriate class, please include this on the back of the application.
PRE-K CLASS: Placement in the 5 - day class will be determined by the child's teacher and Director. You will be notified of this placement in June.
AFTER-SCHOOL OPPORTUNITIES: Discovery Club, an optional program for Pre K students, supports the 4 year-olds’ increasing independence. As in all our classroom settings at Union Congregational, teachers create environments which are invitations for exploration. The focus in Discovery Club is on the natural world; the group investigates the children’s garden and church grounds, which are full of wonderful things for children to experiment with, discover, and explore. Projects evolve from their observations about the weather, insects, and plants. Their curiosity is stimulated as they seek answers to their questions about new findings. Discovery Club meets Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 1 – 2:30 pm. Enrollment is limited to 28 children, with a ratio of one teacher for every seven children. Beginning January, 2011 we will offer an optional 3s Afterschool Program. This will be available for one or two days, on Wednesday and/or Thursday from 1 – 2:30 pm. The class will begin with a 30 minute quiet time, followed by a snack and work time. There will also be an age-appropriate project offered. Due to space restrictions, the group will be limited to 16 children.
TOILET TRAINING: We require that children are toilet trained in the 3 and 4 year classes. If you have concerns or questions specific to your child regarding toilet training please talk to the Director.
CLASSES THAT USE CARLINE: To ease congestion on Cooper Avenue, the following classes use the carline: Pre K B (mornings only), Pre K C (afternoons only – Monday-Thursday), 3 year A (Tuesday- Friday), 3 year B (Monday, Wednesday, Friday), and 3 year C (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday). Children are dropped off and met at the porch in the back of the Vincent Building. One day each week children will be collected in the classroom to enable parents to look at and react to projects and documentation. |
